Waffle makers make life simpler, whether you prefer Belgian-style waffles or lighter American ones. We tested models that feature clear readiness indicators as well as convenient features to minimize frustration such as long handles that remain cool during use or a handle lock feature.
Our research also included models that simplify cleaning by preventing batter from sticking and offering dishwasher-safe removable plates.
Cuisinart Vertical
Vertical Waffle Maker’s thoughtful design makes creating perfect batches of waffles much simpler. Simply close and pour batter through its top spout – no more blind guesswork on how much to add!
An overflow moat captures any stray batter, while an audible and visual warning alert lets you know when the waffle is finished cooking. Plus, this machine heats up quickly.
Matthew’s only real gripe with our purchase is that careless use can result in drips from the top plastic opening that are difficult to clear away, though this wasn’t an essential feature for us.
This waffle maker may be more expensive than our previous budget pick, but its nonstick plates and more accurate browning control make up for its higher cost. Plus, it bakes larger waffles than Krups model! Reversible plates were somewhat difficult to reposition when not in use – we had difficulty getting them back into their slots after testing was complete.
Dash Multi Mini
Dash Multi Mini is one of the tiniest, smallest waffle makers on the market – perfect for dorm rooms, RV’s, travel or anyone who has taken up Chaffle low carb diet. Additionally it is one of the least expensive waffle makers out there as well.
It’s very straightforward and user-friendly; all it requires to begin making waffles is plugging it in, closing the lid, and waiting for the indicator light to turn green indicating their cooked waffles have finished cooking. There are no temperature settings or other controls – making this waffle maker ideal for children to use independently.
This waffle maker allows for four small 4-inch heart-shaped waffles at once, perfect for families, entertaining, or prepping large batches to freeze for later. Made without PFOA and equipped with a nonstick surface that heats quickly and releases easily – as well as coming complete with its own recipe guide!
Breville 4-Slice Smart Waffle Pro
The Breville Smart Waffle Pro produces four deep-pocketed waffles quickly and consistently, using its internal program Waffle IQ. It monitors how hot its plates are before adjusting cooking times accordingly – from light to dark waffle styles or colors! And its large wraparound moat catches excess batter for easier cleanup later.
As with the Cuisinart and Black+Decker models, this one also flashes red and green lights to indicate preheating and ready status. However, unlike its rivals in our test group, this model offers an adjustable browning level dial as well as removable plates suitable for dishwasher cleaning. Furthermore, its clear readiness indicators flash “heating” before lighting up when waffles are finished; unfortunately unlike its rivals in this test group however it does not beep when timer goes off; you must wait until green turns to turn green before moving on with other models in our test group if that model comes.
